Urea-Formaldehyde Resin Powder (Wood Glue Powder/Powder Adhesive) Used In The Production Of Artificial Boards, Including Multi-Layer Plywood, Fine Wood Panel, Eco-Board, Veneered Particle Board, Etc.
Urea-Formaldehyde Resin Powder (Wood Glue Powder)
Urea-formaldehyde resin powder, commonly known as "wood glue powder," is a widely used adhesive in the woodworking industry. It is a powdered product derived from liquid urea-formaldehyde resin via spray drying. The powder is reconstituted with water prior to application.

Key Features
- Transportation & Storage: Compared to liquid adhesives, the powdered form is easier to transport and store for extended periods without degradation. It generally has a shelf life of 12 months when stored in a cool, dry environment.
- Ease of Use: Simply mix with room temperature water in the specified ratio to prepare the adhesive. It is suitable for both cold and hot pressing applications.
- Strong Bonding: Offers high bonding strength and stable performance, meeting various wood processing requirements.
- Cost-Effectiveness: Reduces transportation and storage costs, making it an economical and efficient adhesive solution.
Instructions for Use
(Note: Ratios may vary slightly by manufacturer; please refer to specific product guidelines.)
1. Mixing: Generally mixed at a ratio of Powder:Water = 5:3 (by weight). Add approximately 60% of the total water to the container first, then add the powder while stirring until fully dissolved. Add the remaining water and mix thoroughly.
2. Application: Apply the prepared adhesive evenly onto clean, oil-free wood surfaces.
3. Curing:
- Cold Press: Apply pressure at room temperature. Typical curing time ranges from 4 to 8 hours.
- Hot Press: Curing is rapid at temperatures between 80°C and 100°C, typically taking only 15 to 20 minutes.
Environmental Performance
Formaldehyde emission is the key indicator of environmental performance. With process upgrades, product grades have significantly improved:
- E2 Grade: Early products with relatively higher formaldehyde emission (1.5–5 mg/L).
- E1 Grade: The current market standard with lower formaldehyde emission (0.5–1.5 mg/L), compliant with national mandatory standards.
- E0 Grade: Achieved through the addition of formaldehyde scavengers or melamine modification, offering superior environmental performance with very low formaldehyde emission (≤ 0.5 mg/L).
Applications
Primary Applications
Urea-formaldehyde resin accounts for approximately 65%–75% of total resin adhesive usage and is dominant in the following areas:
-Used in the production of artificial boards, including multi-layer plywood, fine wood panel, eco-board, veneered particle board, etc.
- Furniture assembly and manufacturing
- Wood block jointing, tenoning, and repair
- Production of engineered wood panels (Plywood, Particleboard, Fiberboard)
- Panel veneering and wood lamination
